CD player idea

Hello! I am new to Arduino. I fell in love with the hobby electronics idea after seeing a few YouTube videos. To make the things that I can’t buy!

So what would I make? Finally! I’ve decided on a project. So I’m here to ask if any of you fine folks would point me in the right direction. I do have a little bit of familiarity with electronics, and I have programming experience.

What I want to make is a CD player with a built in battery, with Bluetooth, that I can control with my Bluetooth earbuds; and auto rewind when I pause, and other little features. Easy - right?

What I figure I need is

  • Pick up head (PUH) to read disc
  • some kind of... controller... (supposed to be a joke)
  • rechargeable battery (Li-ion)
  • bluetooth... chip? board?

This would be the basic parts. It the end, I would like all this to be as small as possible, but I’m okay with taking one step at a time.

I have one CD player I can probably cannibalize.

I really appreciate your time and willingness to help me with this!

Get an old laptop or a RPi.

Yep, definitely a joke. :grinning: :grinning: :grinning:

You'd be better-off leaving it unbutchered.

Easy - right?

If you say so.

A raspberry pi would be better suited to this project? Well, I’ll check that out.

If it works you might be able to add Bluetooth.

CD players are incredibly complex so start with a working one!

Making homemade electronics "small" is always difficult.
