Bebbington's Topic Locked Note)
Concern has been raised about the dangers of this project so I have locked it. I am not deleting it as I want it to remain along with the warnings various members have posted. I've also removed a suggestion on how to do it. Thanks

High-handed censorship and caving in to worry-wart old ladies without a life is all you've done. The Worst.
Think About It: If a button can be pushed by a person then how blasted "dangerous" can the thing Really Be?
Bebbington)
Lots of people read this forum, some with no clue of the dangers of what they are doing. You clearly do know, many do not. 2 people flagged the topic and I agree with them. The replies show the concern people have about what was asked.
This is not social media, I am not censoring an opinion about a contentious political figure I am raising a serious safety concern.
r_p)
To Hades with their irrational "concerns".
And you cut-off discussion of ideas, thinking; truly bad form.
Again - there is a button to be pushed presumably by a person. How is it less "dangerous" with a person right next to it than it is remotely?
Bebbington)
A person in front of the boiler detect possible signs of danger, for example by smelling leaking gas, a person who is remote cannot.
It is quite clear the guy knows nothing about gas or boiler safety, and even if I am wrong about that and he's an expert, the next person reading the topic might not.
This forum is to help people with little or no knowledge of electronics or programming, so it's reasonable to look out for them when they attempt something dangerous.
r_p)
What you're saying is that people should be less than honest about what they're up to; describe it as something innocuous, "water pump" instead of "boiler", then it's different - couch everything, subterfuge is the way.
(There are electric boilers, too.)
Bebbington)
That isn't what I am saying it is your inference from what I am saying. I am saying exactly what I said.
I appreciate your feedback but I am not persuaded that I made a bad decision.
I suggest that you have 3 options:
*Accept that we don't agree and let it drop.
*Flag my decision to the moderators, mark your flag as something else and ask for a review. If I see the flag I will add a comment to the effect that I am happy for another moderator to review my decision.
*Start a discussion in the General Discussion section of the forum about the general principles of moderating topics seen to present danger to the OP and others (I leave the exact topic details to you)
Thank you

You missed the last bit:

B & C.
Locking the topic is your call, but Deleting my Reply stinks.
r_p Edit:
It's not in my thread of course.
