Centralizing Bugs & Enhancement Requests

On the developer list I wrote "Everybody wants better patch management" Something like this doesn't work without everyone getting the word and buying in. What do you think?

You guys are right to suggest that neither the forum nor the developers list are good places for keeping tracking of bugs, enhancement requests or patches. Let's use the Google Code issue tracker for this: http://code.google.com/p/arduino/issues/list

It may not be as full-featured as Bugzilla, but it's good enough (and already set-up). Plus, lots of people have Google accounts.

I'll add labels as they become necessary. Please let me know if there's anything else I can do to make the issue tracker more useful.

You can see other comments on this discussion in the mailing list archives here: http://arduino.cc/pipermail/developers_arduino.cc/2009-June/001044.html

To clarify, you're still welcome to post bugs and suggestions here, but these will probably end up being tracked in the Google Code issue list.

I don't like the idea of storing anything related to Arduino's IP in Google. Google's terms of service are absolutely nasty.

If it's that big an issue there's web apps that can be installed on arduino.cc and then the Arduino team will retain control over it.

I think someone would need to employ a sysadmin for that to be a practical solution given the issues we have with just the forum.
