Hi

I plan to use YX8183 for charging my LiPo from solar.
This chip is used in "all" china garden light, I have one myself and it work and works.

I have made a prototype and when charging I only get 0.017 mA when measuring amps with a multimeeter, both prototype and "china model".

Any of you with experience with this chip?

I have seen it, Clive is a good man.

It dos not solve my problem with charging, I struggle to get my 300 mA.

Maybe you can shed some light on Rs (FB resistor), is that only for setting LED current?

What part values are in the functional garden light you have?

Maybe start with those values, verify operation, and then vary values one at a time to see the effect.

Thanks for help!

I found a "small" mistake, I had anode/cathode on LED turned... and then placed it to GND, not SOL+, and if that is not enough, i placed Rs (1 ohm) in wrong holes.... and even pin 3 wrong to ground.... High5!!!

![image](https://europe1.discourse-cdn.com/arduino/original/4X/c/d/6/cd614474119f4b25adbfb0a0460092d5a7bc219d.png)

I also realized I dont need LED, I only need to charge a LiPo:
Here is "new" breadboard:

 ![image](https://europe1.discourse-cdn.com/arduino/original/4X/e/6/c/e6c4c0fc043ffe8309470e1b7e57a9e209674150.jpeg)

Anyway, it charges with only 82mA, datasheet states 600 mA. So I may have some other issues to investigate.

You could add two more 1ohm resistors for Rs.
Anyway, no word about your solar panel, how does it look like...?

Rs is for ILED, I dont need led, I only need to charge, I may need Rs, is it 3 ohm or 0.3 you suggests?

By the way, I tested with power supply, 6V CC 700mA

0.3ohm in parallel.
Max input from panel is 4.2V if I understood anything from specs..

True, but my old datasheet 8182 stated 6v.... So tomorrow I will test with 4V

Who knows... If that chip doesn't regulate voltage, you give panel voltage directly to battery... 6V not good. Neither much lower than 4.2.
