cheap Bluetooth + arduini

Hello,
as you all probably know Bluetooth is not cheap deal!
I am trying to connect arduino with one of thous:
http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.11866

I connected the rx,tx,+5v and the -5v to the arduino but the computer cant find it.
I guessing its has something with sleep or discoverable.

Am I doing something wrong?

Thank you.

this doesnt work. arduino cant handle usb devices without special shields

Am I doing something wrong?

Very much so, yes.

You can't 'host' a usb device like that.

Thank you.

Here is a sample of what you're looking to do. They aren't supporting full blown bluetooth but it might get you what you need.

Sorry, couldn't post that as a real link because this is my first post, take out the spaces in the hostname. Strange restriction, like if I wanted to spam the site I couldn't create a post without a link first and then post a spam...

will either this unit: http://www.sparkfun.com/commerce/product_info.php?products_id=9913

or this one:

work for building a BT receiver for sending the arduino comands? The later item says it incorporates the bluetooth stack and just passes the final data.

Should do, yes.

You might want to consider something like this:

Which is the same kind of Bluetooth module but someone else has gone through the pain of dealing with 5v->3v issues etc. etc.

Most of them only run the SPP (serial port protocol) profile though. So you can't use them for things like HID devices.

Hello
I dont know your requirent for the project but.. If you looking for a solution to connect to Arduino board from a PC etc (normally it is called cable replacement) , I use following item for my projects. please let me know if you need further info. reha

Wow. 20 bucks for two bluetooth modules.

Is there a datasheet for these? how do you go about connecting them to the arduino?

Alternatively, you can get a couple of these: http://www.satistronics.com/mini-24ghz-wireless-nrf24l01-transceiver-module_p2450.html

3.3v though, so 5v arduinos are out of luck

Hmmm... might give them a try myself - cheers Inopia.

Hello
if you can send me your eMail address ( or to rehay@tr.ibm.com) I will send you the datasheet of the item that I'm currently use. reha

Hello
But the item at http://www.satistronics.com/mini-24ghz-wireless-nrf24l01-transceiver-module_p245... is wireless module not bluetooth.. regards, reha
