Cheap medium to long distance range sensor

Hello!

For a personal project, I want to add a distance measurement to my old car, to have an alert if the front or rear cars are to close to me.

I am looking after a medium to long range sensor (30m to 60m) to measure the distance. Laser distance meter are looking good, but I do not need all the packaging around. Do you have any idea?

Thanks a lot!

For up to 50m.

You do. Weather.

Ut contains the optics (lense) and separates the transmitter from the receiver.
A TOF sensor sounds like a poor choice for the front of a car.
A mm radar sensor seems more dirt-proof.
Leo..

What are those ultrasonic sensors on car bumpers for?

They must be weatherproof.

They are close range sensors (up to 15m), and the beam is not really discriminating any object shape, you need many of them with a little bit of coding to understand where the object really is.

I should have better explained, I do not neet the buttons and nice display, agree with the rest!

I would love mm radar, but I do not find any in a "cheap" version!

It looks great, and even below my price range. I will give a try!

You can buy them without buttons, casing and display. With double price..

I would think anything optical would be totally useless when it it is exposed to dirt and water.

That is what these are designed for'''
