Building a few 20ma LED's into a clear tube filled with resin to make a prop/night light. Looking for a cheap power supply. Retail wall wart costs 20$ here. 4$ from Ebay/China. Is there any other alternative I should know about? I don't think batteries are the right answer as a 200 maH battery only lasts a few hours. The customer plans to use this every night.
If 5V is suitable then a USB phone charger would be a reasonable choice.
You haven't said what voltage is needed.

You're telling us there's no old 'phone chargers around...?
Any voltage will do, i will select a resistor based on that. I may make more then one as Halloween is coming. I don't have any free DC power plugs laying around. I need them all LOL.
There are bins of wall warts, chargers and power supplies of all kinds, sometimes for less than $1.00, in just about every thrift store I've ever visited.
Go to the DollarTree store and get a $1 LED night light and modify it for your needs.
+1 for thrift store.
Good to know. My sister loves thrift stores. I can send her to pick some up. Maybe I can get a deal if I buy the whole bin LOL.

Don't forget Harbor Freight, My FREE coupon gets me a led flash light with batteries that will run for a week. Or a 3 dollar multi-volt power pack on sale day.
Never have a problem with a power pack have crates full, just seem to have issue finding one with right plug and voltage/current
