Cheapest Alternative to Adafruit CC3000 - WIFI

Hi,

what is the cheapest alternative to the Adafruit CC3000 ? I mean in most of my projects I need to call a web service so my device need to be connected to my Home WiFi, but the CC3000 it is too expensive and I would bring the cost of the final product too high.

Thanks

I asked the same question a couple of days ago.
See this thread.

Hi!

I would buy a ESP8266.
ESP8266 is a MCU (80-160Mhz and alot of RAM & Flash) with build in WIFI.

Best part, it costs only 2-3$

It supports the Arduino IDE ESP8266 Arduino IDE

It is also possible to use it as a WIFI slave, if you want to use a standard Arduino board and get WIFI support.

your post says "final product"

that indicates you are buidling something for sale ?
one unit, cost is not a problem. multiple units, then making a board is the way to go for a plethora of reasons.

answers are only as useful as the details in the question.

did you really mean to just ask for an alternate souce of a device that is a knock off of the adafruit ? just a lower price ?

Theoretically, you could get a host usb shield for about ten bucks and a wifi usb adapter for about two bucks fifty.

Not sure what software would be required or if it exists.
Maybe someone else knows....

Buy an esp8266. they are probably one of the cheapest on the market.

CC3000:

Not Recommended for New Designs (NRND)

Replaced By CC3200 – The device has SIMILAR FUNCTIONALITY but is not functionally equivalent to the compared device.

TI does not recommend using this part in a new design. This product continues to be in production to support existing customers.

I am sorry to say this that you are not insane, because a comment from a profile that has a single star means he is matured about forums.
First of all in a forum you are here to give suggetions and when the suggetion is asked to be defined, you just define it like in here he asked you "is there a way i can get cheaper on this product" so you responded that he can build it but if you were matured you would have given the method or some way that would help him build it but i guess you become psycho at him when he gave a fed up responce "not helpful"
please Respect and Respond

..........
Enjoy

@akileshmj: Please cut the babble; you've not made much sense in any of your posts so far.

Thanks guys for all your answers! This forums is always very helpful.

Thanks for your answer. Sorry for not being very clear on my question. Yes I'm building something for sale and I know I need to integrate the WIFI on the main board but the Adafruit one (even if for my point of view is one of the best) it is too expensive that is why I was looking for a smaller and cheaper solution.
Thanks

Yu do know that those units are not replacement units for a wifi shield - different applications.
