? Cheapest UART WiFi module ?

I'm used to work with roving networks WiFi solutions but then to me they come costly even the RN-171 isnt good at cost for me or was just thinking any WiFi module you folks may know which supports TCP stack + us UART capable and comes at a very attractive price

The first question is, do you REALLY need WIFI on every robot? There are several other methods of transfering data between robots and a control centre. Some of them are cheaper, easier and have longer range than wifi. It might be worth considering having a single bridge from a 433Mhz based network to wifi for the whole setup.

If you REALLY want wifi though, I recently ran across these. http://www.aliexpress.com/item/802-11bgn-2-4GHz-Module/734502719.html

I've contacted the seller to find out some more info, but if they work, they could be very useful.

Alternatives to wifi IR Bluetooth 433Mhz (eg http://dx.com/p/433mhz-wireless-rf-transceiver-module-w-spring-antenna-157030 ) 2.4GHz (eg http://dx.com/p/nrf24l01-2-4ghz-wireless-transceiver-module-126467 ) Xbee Zigbee

They look interesting. The only d/s I could find was in Han.

I'm looking into getting some more info on them. I've found a datasheet so far. http://redpinesignals.com/pdfs/datasheets/RS9110-N-11-03_Module_DataSheet.pdf (I think)

Would still need a lot of coding work to get it going with arduino. But since you really want/need Wifi over the other options, I assume you are willing to put in some coding work on them.

What is your endgoal anyhow?
