Chip compadability

Hello,

im new to the arduinno and just wondering what avrs can be programmed in the arduino (i.e. ATtiny45) or is the ATmega8 the only compadible chip?

The arduino uses a serial interface to talk to a bootloader already flashed to the Atmel. It is not a programmer. The the bootloader has only been ported to the ATmega8 and ATmega168, as far as I know.

programming the attiny 45 would be a real challenge for arduino.
you can’t really use a bootloader on such a small chip
and also you would have to port the whole library to that…

i’m afraid you’ll have to use C or BASCOM

assembler but only if you don’t have a life

Thank you.
