I have a few Atmel CPLDs they nicely sent me on my doorstep now, UPS confirms. I got the Xilinx CPLDs to program out (no samples! 
) now I have to try with Atmel. Plus, Atmel has them in an easy to use PLCC-84 which I quite like.
