So I'm faced with a bit of a issue when selecting a rotary control. I'm deciding on which to use as a position selector for an antenna rotator. My initial choise was a rotary encoder. But I need something with a fairly high resolution, like half a degree. But I can't seem to understand how to select such a control. My other option is a potentiometer. But I also need a control that will spin a full 360 stop to stop. Any suggestions or guidance would be greatly appreciated. I'll be using an adafruit led run as an indicator around the dial of the rotary control too. THAT may play a role in the selection.
The rotary encoder can be scaled to whatever you want. One count of the encoder can be as smalle as you need it, the scaling is in the software.
