Hi i need help powering my project, it consists of elegoo arduino with two 28BYJ-48 motors with their controller boards and a ultrasonic sensor ,when triggered the motors run for 40 seconds, they drain a typical 9 volt battery very quickly and also battery heats up, can you help me choose a correct portable battery please ,thanks in advance
Battery life can be determined by the battery capacity in Ampere hours (Ah) or milliAmpere hours (mAh), which you can look up.
Measure or estimate the average current draw of your project and divide that into the capacity to get battery life in hours.
If I remember correctly, the 5V 28BYJ-48 motors draw maybe 200 mA each, if both coils are on, so 400 mA total.
A 9V alkaline block battery is intended to power devices like smoke alarms and has capacity 300 to 600 mAh at light current draw. So the lifetime is at very most 1 hour, and probably much less than that at 400 mA current draw.
Only one thing that counts here, and you say nothing about it....
How long do you want it to run for?
A 9v battery is about the worst choice you could ever make but, if 30 secs was all you need, you would be happy.
A six-pack of AAs or Ds would be an easy improvement - rechargeable or just alkalines. Otherwise look at a pair of 18650s. I don't know what an elgoo is but, if it has regulators like a Uno or Mega, you next avenue may be into a decent off-board regulator that is more efficient.
Thank you for response, Elegoo is a arduino brand, the motors run when ever the sensor is triggered, could be 20 times in a day ,hope that makes sense

No it is not. It is a rip off clone of an Arduino product.
But for how long will each triggering run?
And for how many days do you need it to run before changing the batteries?
