I recently changed from mkr1000 to mkr 1010.
After a couple of days the Arduino stops working and THE CHRG starts blinkning. Its connected to a 12v car batteri via a 5v regulator to VIN
Any clues?

I have my mkr1010 connected with micro USB to the power supply and it also blinks after a couple of hours or less. (aand I am sure it is still powered because it works regardless this issue!) So this LED issue looks like an arduino firmware bug.
so in your case it could be an real problem of the power supply or this weird bug ...
not familiar with 1010 but shouldn't arduino Vin be>~7v?
The charge light blinking has always been there after some usage.
I forget what the explanation was but it is listed in the MKR1000 section somewhere.
It is not an issue unless your LIPO is low or charging then it reacts as it is supposed to.
