CLOCK STAND ALONE for manage device

Hi all,
i've seen that there is a way the retrive date time using or ethernet shield or from the computer,
but I'd like to know if there the possibility to retrive date and time in another way using arduino stand alone,

this could allow me to manage for example led:

Imagin to turno on a led on 20 of April at 10:00 a.m.

Retrieve it from where? You need the appropriate hardware and software to retrieve the date and time from wherever you want to retrieve it from.

Like a DS1307 real time clock? Plenty of material on this clock available.
