Cnc hot-wire 4 axis

Hi I was very interested in making a cnc for hot-wire polystyrene cutting with 4 axis, paired with two to two, so two for X and two for Y.
I saw several projects on the internet but I was wondering if it was really achievable with this electronics:

Mega 2560
Ramps 1.4
4x drive a4988
4x nema17

If you are confident that neither motor will miss steps you can control 2 A4988s from a single pair of step and direction pins on the Arduino.
