I'd like to collaborate with someone here to create a thermometer that sends temperature data from 2 temperature sensors to a mobile website (or create a simple app).
The intended use is for grilling meat (among other things).
The specifications are not yet clear, and I'd like to brainstorm ideas before I start. I'd love for us to become a team.
Thoughts on specifications:
Affordable hardware
Button cell battery
Bluetooth and Wi-Fi
2 sensors with 1m cables
3D print a small project box
Create a simple web interface with a graphical representation of temperature changes over time, with 2 curves on the same graph.
Check what is available first! you can buy such a device that connects to an iPhone and tells you when stuff is cooked too.
If you making a product to sell , check the opposition , think about costs .
I’m unsure how you make a device that can stand the temperature and be food safe and transmit through the side of an oven !
These are around £80.. they work very well and the app draws graphs etc
My company made many printed circuit boards for a very well known company developing an identical product. After all was working per plan, the company lawyers killed the product for security reasons. You might consider the same.
These were pellet barbecue device with total remote control and feedback from the cooker. A hacker could raise the heat until a building fire was created. My guessing, here. Or could raise the heat and a person could be burned trying to use the super hot machine.
