I have been using Arduino IDE 1.8.16 for over a year with various compatible board, such as Arduino Mbed Nano board, Adafruit nRF52, Heltec ESP32 Arduino, etc. They all worked great.
Recently, I discovered that Arduino IDE no longer can recognize the COM port when I plug in any of the above boards. Window Device manager also do not show the COM port when I plug in the board.
I installed the newer version of 1.8.19 IDE. I tried the IDE in a different computer, different USB port, etc. None of them seem to work. Any advice?
Hi @peterhsi7. Make sure the USB cable is completely plugged into both the Arduino board and the PC.
If that doesn't help, you may have a damaged/defective or charge-only USB cable. Try a different cable.
Either of the above can result in the power connections being made (and thus LED lights on the board), but no data connections (and thus no port for the board).
