Not so much a question rather a bit of advice;
Today after boxing up my project I found when I plugged it in I got the "port not found" and the Arduino IDE Tolos - port only showed com1.
Typical - always works until you screw the lid on the box!
To cut a long story short I had changed the cable - and the micro usb cable was a data only cable.
This makes me really cross; they should be marked differently.
Put the original cable back on and it works fine.
Yep common issue and not just Arduino.
Cheap cables are often "power only"
If you are like the rest of us you sort them out by connecting something like a cell phone to a computer.
Then mark them up yourself.
It is an INDUSTRY issue not specific to any one single manufacturer.
Also it depends on if a stand alone project needs just power or power and data.
Thanks BSB, p'raps I'll tie a knot in them. (or maybe cut the ends off)
Annoying cheapskates saving b all at our expense.
