I bought a number of NodeMCU ESP8266 units. A few months ago I was programming with one on a daily basis with no problems at all. I had to take a break for a few months and decided to use another unit for a slightly different application. I immediately had problems getting the program to load through the COM port. It looked like it was looking for the port and came up with a succession of ……______
I put in the original unit and that worked, so I presumed my setting and USB cable were OK. I tried 3 other units they all exhibited the same problem. I when I went back to the original unit it has decided to have the same problem.
I’m working from Windows 10, the units show up as “Silicon Labs CP210x USB UART Bridge (COM6), unplugging the usb causes COM6 to disappear and plugging back in it finds it again. This is the case with all the boards.
Very rarely I can get them to work by re-booting the PC with the Arduino attached.
I’ve tried 4 different cables
If anyone suggest a solution I would be very grateful
