COM4 access is denied

So I was working on a project last night with my USB Boarduino and it was working great. I shut down my PC and it installed KB5005565 update.

I powered on my PC tonight to keep working on the project and it refuses to upload. All I get is:

avrdude: ser_open(): can't open device "\.\COM4": Access is denied.

If I try to open the serial monitor it tells me the port is busy.

When I look under device manager it shows up as COM4 but it also shows something called "Microsoft Serial BallPoint" with a exclamation point triangle next to it. I tried uninstalling that and the COM4 device, rebooted and it reinstalled both and still won't work.

Any ideas what's going on?

Not a clue. However I don't have that device (ballpoint). Perhaps if you shut all pen and table options.

If you are still stuck you should:
go to nirsoft.net
download "USB Device View"

Disconnect all boards from windows.
Run USBDeview.exe

Uninstall unconnected devices. As a minimum it will allow your Arduino board to find a different port.

So I don't have that device installed either which is why it's so strange. All the tablet and pen stuff is disabled. I right-clicked and uninstalled the device and now the Arduino is working
