According to my experiences, if I put TRUE to last parameter of SoftwareSerial, then it will inverse the logic to RS232.
I have connected various RS232 devices to my Uno such as: at least 3 different brand of electronic scale, serial barcode printer, serial impact ticket printer, serial remote LED display, RS232 laser distance meter, and desktop PC. They are all using RS232 communication.
