Does anyone have a confirmed compatible 20x4 LCD available from Digi-key? I realize I can order them from many other places (hacktronics, sparkfun, etc...) but since i order so many other parts from Digi-key already, it would be most convenient to keep all my orders at one place.
... only to find it was not compatible with the standard arduino LCD library.
What makes you say that? It looks entirely software compatible to me. You probably have an extended temperature LCD in which case you will need a negative voltage supply for the contrast pin. You can check this out with a 9v battery. Disconnect your potentiometer from GND and connect that lead to the - side of the battery. Connect the + side of the battery to GND.

Look for one that operates from 0 to 50C instead of -20 to 70C.

Update your location. Someone may suggest you a local or regional source of that type of display. I have a constant supply of 16X2 and 20X4 displays but you may not want to buy from me if you're, say, half way across the globe, right?
