Compiling with SLCD Library

Hi all,

This is a question regarding the Sparkfun Serial LCD Library -> arduino.cc/playground/Code/SLCD

I have saved the demo as a new pde and tried to compile but am getting errors.

... stray '\5' in program ... stray '\26' in program ... stray '\7' in program , etc.

It seems odd that I can't get the demo to compile so I'm thinking I'm doing something wrong. Has anyone run across this??

BTW: Arduino 0017 Ubuntu 9.10

delete the files in the SLCD library directory that begin with '.'
