Hi all.
I am a complete newbie to Arduino and electronics. I come from an IT backround so I know a little. LOL
I am very keen to learn about Aduino and electronics.
My question is:
Which Arduino board should I start with?
What other components would be valuable to get to get me started?
TIA
I would go for one of the starter kits.
There's a bunch of them out there, and they usually come with the most common extras like some switches LED's a small breadboard, a small DC motor or servo motor etc.
Some of them also come with a manual or booklet or online experiments to learn from. This way you get a good starting platform and only pay shipping once.
Google around to find one that suits you (and your budget)

Might be interesting allthough it's a bit dated. There are other options than those mentioned there. Just google "arduino starter kit" or Arduino experimenter" or....
Thanks for the reply.
Which board should i get?
What would a decent breadboard to get? I was thinking one with 840 tie points. Would that be sufficient for me to start with?
TIA
Yes, that's a reasonable size.

Any off the newer boards will do, i.e duemilenova or Uno, or the clones of them.
I assume that the Uno is the latest board to be released?
So just to clarify, an Uno board and a breadboard with 840 tie points would be a good start for a beginner?
Is there anything else, besides LEDS, resistors, ie. all the small components, that I should get?
TIA
Darryn,
if you include in the the small components buttons and a few wires to connect the stuff together and an USB-cable, you're set up to have some fun.
If you have a specific project in mind, you might need some additional components like 220V relays, accelerometers, LCD, servos or 2000 megawatt lasers mounted on a space station.

Great, then it sounds like I am on the right track.
Just don't want to go and waste money on things I don't need.
Thanks for th input.
Can't wait to get started.
