Maybe because it's lower case delay 
Anyway, post your sketch using code tags (see the "how to use this forum - please read" thread).
Sounds complicated.. Try to un-tick your CAPS LOCK!
Also smells a lot like it is used outside a function when it shoud be inside a function.
