What is on the other end? Perhaps the problem is on that end.
It does this when using both the serial monitor built into the Arduino IDE and also with the VB program I created to receive the info.
Serial monitor - first line is missing data when serial monitor is opened.
VB Prog - first line missing data when you connect to the arduino.
