Confirm same part used in tutorial

I (finally) found this

http://www.jameco.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?langId=-1&storeId=10001&catalogId=10001&pa=1777671&productId=1777671&keyCode=WSF

Its labeled as a "AD5206BRU10"...Is this the same Digital Pot used in this tutorial? :-/

Since your find is surface mount and the one in the tutorial is through hole, the short answer is no

Since it shares the AD5206 part number, its probably just a variant of the same chip. So the long answer is probably

It seems through hole components, particularly the more complex ICs are going the way of the Dodo bird :frowning:

I could only find 1 digital pot in through hole from my supplier, whereas they had dozens in surface mount.

so I want a "AD5206BN10" (PDIP)?

you should check the part code rather than rely on the description, I came unstuck last week when I ordered what I thought were pdip digital pots as they were described as such on the supllier website and came up via a search for dip/pdip parts, when they arrived they were SOIC  the website description is wrong but the part number was correct for the SOIC version so always check the part number with the manufacturer and you should be ok.
