I am trying to learn to use Arduino for model kits. I want to make 2 led chase lights controlled by 1 Arduino Nano board, each chase light consists of 10 3mm red LEDs.
But that would surpass the max amperage of the board.
Unless it is not a problem since they only switch on 1 LED at a time per chase light.
Assuming these are "regular" ~20mA LEDs, you're right. But sometimes "things go wrong" and they might all come-on at once, especially during development/testing/debugging so "be careful". (Excess current for a short period of time is probably OK.)
