Connect ESP8266 to Arduino Uno

I have connected the ESP8266 to Arduino Uno Like :

Acc to 3.3v
RX to TX
TX to RX
GND to GND
CH-PD to 3.3v
RST to 3.3v

and I only receive garbage

I have tried to connect
RX to RX and TX to TX → Same garbage !!

Please help.

Baud rates?

Sorry, I am a beginner.
What do you mean with “Baud rates” ?

Baud rate = serial data transmission and reception rate. The sender and receiver Baud rates have to be known, correct and match.

I have tried 115200, 9600 and others --> Same problem

If you are using the Arduino Uno as the USB-to-serial converter, I found it best to remove the Atmega. I have the DIP version.

Did you download the support software for the ESP8266 family using the Arduino's IDE? Most tutorials ignore this step.

My RST line is not connected. I have a ESP8266 EPS-01.

You definitely need a 3.3V power supply.

And you need to level shift the RX from 5V to 3.3V. A voltage divider would work.

How can I download the support software for the ESP8266 family using the Arduino's IDE?

Board Manager.

I have connected the ESP8266 to Arduino Uno Like :

GND to GND
CH-PD to 3.3v

Now it works but when I am typing AT command I get "Error" Not "OK"

can any one help, Please?

The ESP8266 must have its own power supply. It draws too much current to be connected to the 3.3V on the Arduino.

Also, the ESP-01 I have use 152000 baud rate.

I have same problem!

Hello!

I have an esp8266 wifi module from ebay http://www.ebay.com/itm/ESP8266-Serial-WIFI-Wireless-TransceiveR-Module-Send-Receive-LWIP-AP-STA-SS/222084050344?_trksid=p2047675.c100011.m1850&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D35625%26meid%3D8cc61da99a9f48d88f42c8f11247b41a%26pid%3D100011%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D10%26sd%3D262105141657 and I want to get my esp 8266 module work.

For most tutorial they use FTDI. But I don’t have it. :frowning:

I use this type of connection:https://files.fm/u/gft7d9rf#/

When I open Serial monitor and reset my esp8266 it’s send me ready: https://files.fm/u/gk5v3cvx#https://files.fm/u/gk5v3cvx#

And when I start write AT commands nothing happens !

Before I did this I was tryed this tutorial, but also without results: Android Arduino Wifi Control Devices with ESP8266 Module - YouTube

I hope you will help me with your experience!

What i did:

Okey, I tryed powered esp8266 wifi module with power supply. Now on esp8266 wifi module red and blue leds is on and nothing happens when I change parametrs in serial monitor. Esp8266 wifi module didn’t send READY! AT commands doesn’t work too.

I think now I need to upload 9.2. version and everything must work. I made schematic for programming on my breadboard. I entered the flash programming mode by holding down the PROG button and then pressing and releasing the RESET button. Then to verify the flash programming was successful, I needed to talk to the chip and query the firmware version. I closed the flash programming window and pressed the RESET button (without pressing the PROG button) to place the ESP8266 board in user mode. Everything works fine.

But i don’t have FTDI or arduino uno with th atmega328, so i can’t try it now!

I have connected the ESP8266 to Arduino Uno Like :

Acc to 3.3v
RX to RX
TX to TX
GND to GND
CH-PD to 3.3v

and use 152000 baud rate it now works fine.
Thank you!
