Connecting 5v 1ch relay module to pin 3

hi everyone,
i have a doubt to get clarified please help me.
iam trying to connect a 5v 1ch relay module to arduino uno digital pin 3, do i have to introduce any sort of resistance or other component between the 'pin3' & the module's 'signal in' pin or directly.

adal.

What relay?
Picture/link/more info needed

hi,
its a 5v single channel relay module
the relay module which iam using is not optocoupled,
there are three inputs for this module

  1. +5v dc, which i have connected to the uno's 5v
  2. gnd, which i have connected to uno's gnd
  3. line, which i have connected to uno's pin no 3.
i have uploaded the sketch and its working finely without any load connected to the relay,
when i tried to connect a load (a 220 V AC Water solenoid valve) between the relay's NO contact, the 16 X 2 lcd display's 1st row displays various symbols.
if i disconnect the load and run the sketch, the lcd displays exactly what i have entered.

pls help me.
regards,
adal.
