I plan to connect external power to my protosheild.
Is it ok to connect my 5v and ground to anywhere on my sheild where it is labeled for 5v and power?
Alternatively, should I connect it to directly to the pin into my arduino.
Noobie question I know.
Asking for a friend ^^,
Hello there!
Can you post what shield and model of Arduino board you are using?
Thanks for the pictures
I do believe that applying 5V and ground to any corresponding pin on the shield should indeed put that voltage onto the Arduino 5V pin and ground onto ground, which would power the board. I am going to look up some information on the shield to confirm that.
One thing to make sure is that you DO NOT apply 5V to the shield and plug the USB in at the same time. This will most likely cause the Arduino to turn itself off, and could damage your Arduino and/or your computer.
