Connecting a signal via transistors

Hi, i have been looking into this for a while and found no helpful knowledge. I need to do the following
-when a signal pins goes from 12v to low, connect 2 wires that carry a signal to each other.
Ive experimented with pnps and npns for a while and cant seem to get anything that works. Thanks

We will need more info. Hand-draw and clearly label a wiring diagram. Now take a photo and post it.
Obviously, the 'signal pin' is not on an Arduino or any other board I am aware of; logic levels today are 5, 3.3, and emerging 1.8VDC.

It seems that you want to connect two wires so they will conduct an electrical signal. That can be done with an electrical switch. You want the switch to be activated by a voltage from a different circuit. That can be done by a relay. I think you need a relay and not a transistor.

your description is not clear enough... there are too many solutions ...

Connect your signal wires to the NC terminals of a reed relay. Connect the relay coil to the 12V. When the signal drops to zero, the terminals will close and connect the signal. Simple solution.

Say something about the test signal that you are sending through the circuit you have created with these components and how you are intending to show that the signal has been successfully received.

Hi evryone. The setup is for a car the signal is a 12v mirror fold command from an aftermarket car security system. The problem is it locks with the doors so the mirrors could fold at high speed which is dangoures. A relay isnt the best because itll be on wasting power the whole time the car is running.
So i intend to use the acc signal as a control. If the car is on disconnect the 2 wires if its off vice versa

This is true but compared to the power consumption of the rest of the electrical system, to say nothing of the engine itself, I consider the few mA of a reed relay to be trivial.

Do you know a relay has a normally open and normally closed pin that can be alternatively connected to the common signal depending on if the relay coil is activated or not activated? Also you can get relays that have two (or more) sets of contacts like this.

So it is a simple matter to get any combination of what is connected to what by wiring the relay contacts in the appropriate way. If you only could post a schematic of what you have, and what you want we could probably help you sort out what you want to do without the relay being on all the time.
