connecting a touchscreen wo. breakout

Hi, I'm wondering if its possible to peel a little bit the orange strip from a Nds touchscreen, Reason is I'm not able to find it at a reasonable price around.

The screen is similar to this, but with a shorter cable:

Another option I've thought of is drilling the acrylic screen andWire it from there, hope it makes sense.

What, a breakout board?

You can carefully cut in between the ribbon cable connections then solder to each one. I did this on my touch screen, works fine.

Anything like this is likely to cause you to break your touch screen if you do it slightly wrong.
