Connecting Arduino Uno - I get no satifaction.

I finally decided to buy an Uno and learn to use it for some projects I have in mind. So I'm brand new to the Arduino. Bought a kit. Found out I couldn't download the ide on Windows 7 so I went to the web create interface. I followed all the instructions, downloaded the create-agent. Looked like it ran ok. But, when I plug my uno into it and open the Arduino Editor, I get the error "No plugin connection. Uploading is disabled until you reconnect."
I look on the Monitor tab and I have a big X with "Serial port unavailable".
I look in my device manager and there's an Unkown Device under Other Devices.
At one point it was trying to load a device handler from Intel that was unsuccessful.
I didn't see anything about a device handler in any documents.

Help please.
Thanks in advance.

You CAN download the regular IDE and it does work on windows 7.

When you installed CREATE did you say YES to the certificate and the drivers and any firewall permissions.
Saying No to any of those is enough to cause the plugin to not work properly.

Not 100% sure about your "device handler" problem as I cannot remember the plugin ever mentioning that.
The only time I have seen anything for INTEL was drivers for the Arduino 101 board.

It is quite safe to re-install the plugin as it will just over write the old install.

You have not mentioned which browser you are using and that's important information.

Chrome, yes to certificate and tried reinstalling a couple of times.
When I went to install the ide on my computer, I chose the microsoft store and they would only install it on Windows 10. I'm running 7.
I went back and saw the other options and chose the installer.
It installed ok, and I found the port and board ok.
Works.
Thanks.
