Connecting FFC FPC PCB board converter to Arduino

Hi,
I am trying to connect FFC FPC PCB board converter to Arduino Uno R3 (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09X1M4F22?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details). Here is more detailed description of what I am trying to do:
I have a 6 lead ribbon cable that controls power switch to turn on or turn off a machine. I connected a FFC FPC PCB board converted (link above) to the ribbon cable. Now I want to connect it to a breadboard or to the Arduino Uno R3 to control power on/off. I need to close a circuit, leads 1 and 4 on the ribbon, to turn on/off the the machine. The voltage passing through the ribbon cable is 3.1V constant. Also, I got a suggestion to use MOSFET for safer power switch. I have a box of MOSFETs, so hopefully I have all the parts needed.

If you have any suggestions, steps, instructions, and/or video guide on youtube I would really appreciate it. Thank you very much in advance and please let me know if you need any additional information.

I think it would be better to use an optocoupler

Try to search the forum, the question is a quite common

Thank you for the suggestion and for the info! I've been looking through the forums, but maybe I did phrase it properly. I will look for some more. What I am looking for is for more detailed, step-by-step, assembly. In any case, thank you for reply
