Hi all. This is my first time using ardiuno board so please go easy on me

I just wanna learn this thing.
I connect my LCD to my board w/c I bought on a set. It has 7 segment, 4x3 switch mark etc.
They said that the only thing left to do is to code so I go here and download the arduino installer and installed in properly.
I try testing it with the basic code (included in the installer)
Now I try the liquid crystal example (w/c I found in the installer)
I try verify and its good, then try uploading no error but LCD display show the same thing ? (black blocks )
Its my first time using one so please help me ?
thank you all
We need to know which exact LCD that you have. Post a picture or a link to a data sheet. Is it a shield that plugs onto the Arduino? Which Arduino?
If it is a shield there is a potentiometer on the upper left of the shield for adjusting the contrast. Did you try adjusting the potentiometer?
How to post an image.
Please read the how to use the forum sticky. It gives hints on what we need to know to help you. Following the guidelines saves every body's time.

This is probably the only point in the post, but it is gibberish. It does however strongly suggest that the display you have is not one of the standard LCD displays used with Arduinos, which goes some way to explain why it doesn't work with the standard example.
A better explanation of the display, and the wiring details, might help - along with the expression w/c.
