That's about it. You will need a series resistor with the LED and it will be low resistance with 3.3 volts applied and a 3.3 volt LED. I think I estimated a little over 300 mA for current. The 2N2222 has a collector max current of about 800 mA so a 2N2222 should do fine. This or you can look for a LED driver but the circuit you posted should do fine. Just make sure your series resistor is at least a 2 watt resistor.
