Connecting to Bluetooth LE Devices IE Heart Rate Strap

Can anybody point me in the direction te GET data from Bluetooth LE devices such as Heart Rate straps? I know I'm a bit vague but I have tried using the Curie and 101 but that's only to transmit the data. I want to pull the data from a commercial product like the wahoo or similar. These are open protocols from what I can read but I can't find any programming info.

Hi, did you manage to do this? I have a project in mind, I would like to read data from the chest strap.
