Connecting to MQTT server

I tried to connecto to MQTT server from external address.
I printed debugged messaged from my sensor. I see that ESP8266 connected successfully to the MQTT server but automatically disconnects after that.

Who knows where is the source of that problem?

My code:

PS. Annonymous logins are disabled. My sensor connected to that servere using proper credentials.

Please post your code as text, not an image. Use code tags.

PubSubClient MQTTclient(mqtt_server, 1883, client);
MQTTclient.setCallback(callback);

if (MQTTclient.connect(clientID, mqtt_username, mqtt_password))
{
  print( "After MQTT connect...");
  println( String(MQTTclient.state()));
  if(MQTTclient.connected())
  {
    println("MQTT connected");
  }
  else
  {
    println("MQTT disconnected??");
  }

  println("Connected to MQTT Broker!");

  String topic_message = String(objectName)+",tag1=t,tag2=h,tag3=u t="+String(temperature,DEC)+",h="+String(hummidity,DEC)+",u="+String(battery,DEC);

  println(topic_message);

  char copy[100];
  topic_message.toCharArray(copy, topic_message.length());

  if (MQTTclient.publish(mqtt_topic, copy, sizeof(copy)))
  {
    println("Message sent to MQTT broker!");
  }
  else
  {
    println("Message failed to send to MQTT broker");
  }

  print( "State after MQTT publish...");
  println( String(MQTTclient.state()));

  delay(5);

  MQTTclient.disconnect();

returns true.

I published my code as text.

Well, a fragment of it perhaps. Code tags are appreciated though.

If you control the MQTT server, it might be worth running it in verbose mode to get more information about the disconnections.

Mosquitto conf:

allow_anonymous false
listener 1883
protocol mqtt
listener 9001
protocol websockets
password_file /etc/mosquitto/passwd

Hard to say without more detail. Timing would be interesting - how long does it take before the ESP disconnects? I'm wondering if the keep alive isn't working. Is the 120 device your ESP?

perhaps this code will give a hint or 2 of how to keep the MQTT connection open 24/7. The MQTT Broker likes to disconnect. See the void MQTTkeepalive( void *pvParameters ) for how I connect to the WiFi, the MQTT Broker, and do the keep alive loop.

I use a watch dog to reacquire a token from the Broker after any server resets. I got 12 ESP32's in the attic and crawl space, I don't want to go running around rebooting all 12 of them when the server gets an update. I use a Raspberry Pi as my MQTT Broker.

Is the 120 device your ESP?

No, it is my ubuntu sarver where Mosquitto is hosted. My ESP address is hiden under red block. It is external addres related to ubuntu machine.

Compiler generates unknown function error on that line.

Wow! That's a lot of info to go on. I'll look over your posted code where you try to use the keep alive and try to figured how you could have possibly caused such an error to occur.

I had an earlier version of PubSubClient :). Now it works great.

Thanks for all for support.
