Connecting wires for an arcade push button

How would i connect the led wires for an arcade push buttons? Would i connect it straight to the arduino leonardo board or do i connect it to the same wire as the NO (normally open) connector wire that goes to the board??

Do you want the LED to be on all the time or only when the button is pressed ? How is the button wired ?

i only want the led to be on when pressed right now the NO connector is connected to one of the analog slots such as A0 and ground connected. There are two other prongs for the led as well which i dont know where to connect to

Resistor from +5V to LED anode. LED cathode to A0 (or whatever you're using for the button).

Is there a way to do it without resistors?

Short answer, no there isn't. Long answer, a constant current driver circuit of some form maybe?

If you short +5V to ground through an LED with no resistor the results will be quite pyrotechnic.

Take a look at http://www.thebox.myzen.co.uk/Tutorial/LEDs.html

As I mentioned in a previous post there is a small possibility that the switch has a resistor built in. Can you please provide a link to the buttons that you are using ?

I am using these buttons http://www.aliexpress.com/item/3pcs-lot-Square-60-60mm-Lighted-Buttons-Illuminated-Push-Button-with-Micro-switch-for-Arcade-Music/2026226052.html with these switches http://global.rakuten.com/en/store/sanwadenshi/item/ilumb_222/
