Connecting xbee shield to leostick

Hi All,

I'm trying to connect a xbee (series 1) to a leo stick via the xbee shield. All that I have read state that I only need to connect the 5v, gnd ,tx and rx. With the shield attached to an uno I have no problems communicating between the uno and the PC, but if I detach the shield and connect the 4 wires to the Leo I get no communication ( I have tried swapping the tx and rx, but no luck). Are there any other connections I need to make with the shield? I am planning to get just a standard breakout, but in the interim I would like to get these running.

Thanks

What is a leo stick?

via the xbee shield.

Which XBee shield?

Are there any other connections I need to make with the shield?

Those 4 should be all that you need.

PaulS,

Thanks for the reply:

The Leo Stick is the freetronics LeoStick LeoStick (Arduino Compatible) | Freetronics
The xbee shield is the Sparkfun xbee shield http://australianrobotics.com.au/products/xbee-shield.

When the xbee is plugged into the shield using an UNO then I have no problems with communicating, but if I remove the shield and cable the shield - via the 4 lines as suggested then I get nothing.
