connection question

can an arduino communicate with a sensor via this wiring???

the sensor would wait for a command and upon receiving the command, it would print out readings...

normally the sensor works with an RS232, and i just dont want to buy something else to go on top of my uno and GPS shield...

Yes, Arduino with full duplex RS485 adapter could talk to that card.

Bare minimum chip needed would be something like this:

Do you have the manual ? Do you have a link to it so we could look at it ?

A link to a bare surface mount chip is going to be pretty useless to a beginner. Surely something like this would be a more appropriate suggestion:

@PaulRB,
What is the connection between the CTC-RSA-20-1 the WindMaster shown connected to a PC (example) ?

raschemmel:
CTC-RSA-20-1

Is that a product code for the shield I linked to?

If so, I thought it was an rs485 shield, so would hopefully enable comms to the WindMaster.

Could an rs485 shield go between your uno and the GPS shield?

How about mounding one of these on a pcb/stripboard and connecting to the Uno somehow?

This doesn’t go on top but you could mount it somewhere with the mounting holes in the corner.

here is the link to the manual for the wind master. connections start on page 18

What would be the easiest and fastest (i know they will not be the same...) connection for the arduino??? other than the analog outputs.... reusing these sensors and they did not come with the analog outputs....

thanks for the help

can an arduino communicate with a sensor via this wiring???

I think the Windmaster is more than just a sensor...

I think were just going to ship them to the manufacturer and have them turn on the analog outputs.... that should simplify everything.
