considering getting started

i don't have an arduino yet but i'm thinking of getting one. i have an idea of something i want to make and i wanted to know if it is possible first.

i'm starting up a high humidity riparium (similar to a paludarium but with more water), and want to build something to not only monitor but take counter measures too in case of problems.

so it's features would be:
measure humidity (and make the data readable somewhere either by messages or a webpage/app)
if humidity is to low temporarily start up a pump that will spray water. (technically turn on a electricity socket for a set time)
measure temperature (and make the data readable similar to the humidity)
if temperature is to low power up a heat cable/mat for a set time (again pretty similar to when humidity is too low.)

i already read that video will be impossible so livestream won't be happening much, probably.

i'm willing to make seperate systems one for humidity and one for temperature (using 2 arduino's) but one system would be better, also if it's easier to make them send me alerts when humidity/temperature get outside set values and have me manually switch on the sockets (from wherever i am.) that is fine too.

i have no experience (i have played around with a raspberry pi, but not really made something) so i don't expect getting this done in a few hours, but just knowing if it is possible, is better than buying something and leaving it lying around.

Yes except for video everything your asking for can easily be handled with one Arduino.

which arduino is reccommended? seeing how there are different boards.

The Uno board is best for learning/prototyping with simply because most tutorials use it.

Once you have a working prototype, then you can decide which board to use in the final product. Often a nano or pro mini because of their small size.

You will also need a way to communicate. Either a wifi or ethernet shield can work but there are other options.

get an Uno to learn with, by the time you have a working prototype you will know what is needed.
