Construction of a simple mechanical arm with Arduino One

Hello everyone , I have a question to be submitted to all the experts Arduino . Not long ago I bought Arduino Uno , and I immediately buff . But now I want to build something that I really like , like a mechanical arm , but do not know how to do . I would like to build a simple mechanical arm who is divided into two parts : the lower part able to rotate on itself attached to a fixed support , and the upper part can move up and down ( as the arms of the crane to be more clear ) . That said , my question is this , that mechanical parts related to Arduino I take to try to build a creation of the genre (possibly cheap ) ; type motor , resistors , cables to interconnect the various parts , etc ... I hope some of you will be able to help me .
Thanks a lot in advance to all those who will help me

Hi,
Other then the mechanical parts, you mostly need servos? That is the way I would do it, a servo to rotate the base part, a servo for the elbow and one for the wrist or gripper end. I'd look into the mechanics of it first, what material, weight, size.

We're here to help, but only if you can give us a better idea of what you have it mind....

Regards

Mel.
