Hello,
Let me introduce myself, my name is Stéphane, I am a quadriplegic, that is to say that I am paralyzed in all four limbs.
Being a quadriplegic, to be autonomous in computing I use what is called a pro tracker.
Basically it is a reflective patch positioned on the forehead and on my computer via USB, I have an infrared receiver that captures the patch and by moving it it moves the mouse cursor.
Today this system is no longer developed and I am afraid that one day if this system breaks down I will have nothing to continue to be autonomous in computing.
So I am looking to make my own pro tracker.
For this I based myself on Arduino after I do not know if it is the right choice! I think I would have to find an infrared camera that can detect my reflective patch and from there we would be able to move the mouse cursor.
Only being completely new to the subject I am therefore looking for competent people who can help me and advise me on this future project. I said to myself that if it were possible we could achieve the same concept with a reflective pad! In your opinion is it feasible? it's possible why espcam ?
Do you have any advice for me?
Thank you in advance
Research into computer control by severely disabled people has certainly not come to a halt, so what other options are available to you, other than recreate a discontinued interface?
Eye tracking, direct neuromuscular or brain interfaces, mouth, tongue and breath control interfaces, etc. are all currently in use and/or under development.
The problem is that I have been using this system for over 25 years and I am very used to the level of precision. I have tried software but it was not really conclusive that is why I would really like to try to reproduce the same system. In addition, with this system it is easily possible to direct a mouse on my Android tablet, but with the applications that are now available it is much less precise.
