Control external power supply output voltage

Hi.
I am new to electronics things.

I want to control LED which is powered by external supply. (DC 2.5~3.3 Voltage)
Can I control LED brightness by controlling voltage?
I google it and I found that I can with mosfet.

Arduino -> mosfet -> LED

Is there any person who can achieve this goal?

Please provide a data sheet for the LED and power supply.

Look at the ide examples , there is one for this using PWM.

You need a logic level FET and google for circuits ( FET switch Arduino ).

As said by Mr Fungus need some more data as I expect there is a fair bit more to this …

Ah yes. Of course.

  1. What LED?
  2. What power supply?
  3. What MOSFET did you have in mind?
  4. Why do you want to do this?
