I'm running a control surface sketch on a ESP32 3S.
Occasionally the device stops working and the only way to make it work again is to reset the host device it is connected to.
Is it because a usb midi overload? And how can I prevent it to happen again?

Which host device? Which code are you running?
have you tried using an external USB power supply? If that solves your problem you were correct it was overloaded. To keep it from happening again keep using the external power supply.
