Control the speed of a 230VAC fan

Hello, I want to control the speed of a 230VAC fan motor like this:

I don’t really understand what circuits are appropiate for dimming lights and which ones are for motor speed (I don’t even know which circuits are for Synchronous or for Asynchronous motors) I found several information about it on Google and I have found this options

Do you think this circuit is appropiate and could be adaptated to be controlled by arduino?

Well the product description mentions:

The fans can be speed-controlled via a stepless thyristor or a 5-step transformer.

So your options 1 and 2 seem to have the basic theory of what is needed.
