Control via Bluetooth (without a phone)

I'm building a miniature vehicle and I need to control it remotely, and the requirement for is that I can't use something like a smartphone. I'd like to use to use Bluetooth modules like the HC-05, but I'm fairly new to this and there isn't much tutorials online sending about receiving Bluetooth signals like this.

Wondering about the logistics of something like this, thanks in advance.

Can't see the advantage of bluetooth if you can't use a phone/tablet/laptop. Use something simpler like basic 433MHz radio transmitter+receiver pair. But you will need an Arduino for the vehicle and another Arduino for the remote.

Even simpler would be IR. Use an old TV remote and an IR receiver on the Arduino.

Not exactly reliable, especially if OP wants range. The aforementioned 433MHz modules, NRF24l01, or XBees would be better.

Thanks for the advice, I decided to control via a Bluetooth App Inventor app. On further research this was allowed.
